Little loves

Autumn sensory play, woodland walks and parent’s evening #littleloves

October 20, 2017

How was your week? Ours has been a good one and consequently, it feels to have flown by. Last Friday was my birthday and over the weekend we had some unseasonably mild weather which we made the most of. We had lots of fun as a family including a trip to the library, park and the woods. My husband helped F make me breakfast in bed on Sunday. It was very sweet but both the girls ended up eating it for me! I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way though. The weekend flew by. My 3 days in work went fast too and then yesterday I went shopping with E and my mum (I bought some bargain jeans, they scanned for £3.50 instead of £35) and we had lunch out. Now it’s time to catch up with my little loves from this week.

Read

We took the girls to the library on Saturday morning. F actually requested a trip. She enjoyed picking some books to read and some to bring home too. We’ve been reading lots of children’s books this week as usual and I will be sharing our current favourites on my Instagram feed tonight.

Have you read my posts from earlier in the week? Why we love Playmags magnetic tiles and 9 things to do in the Lake District this October half term.

Watched

I started watching a really useful and inspiring facebook live from Makelight about styling Christmas photos. I didn’t get the chance to watch it all the way through but I can’t wait to find some more time to finish watching it. I’m also really behind on tv and vlogs this week too. I am ahead with blog posts though and I really love the two posts I shared this week so you can’t have everything.

Made

I set up an autumn tuff spot for the girls to explore on Saturday afternoon. It included lots of autumn treasures (conkers, pine cones and acorns) as well as a few autumn coloured toys such as stacking cups. The girls both loved it and had lots of fun. Another activity ticked off our family autumn bucket list.

Wore

As usual, I’m going to hand this section over to F. I love this new outfit. The colours are gorgeous and autumnal and the tights with hedgehogs on are so cute. It was purchased from John Lewis in case you were wondering.

Heard

Tuesday evening was F’s first parent’s evening. We heard how she is settling in well and learning the routines of the school day. She sounds to be making lots of friends and learning her phonics well. She struggles to stay focused on one task for very long unless it is playdough but apparently this is improving and can be seen in her drawings which are getting more and more detailed. I can’t say I’m too surprised or worried by this as she is one of the younger ones and I’m sure it will come with time. I loved seeing her school books, especially this drawing she drew of me on Monday.

And lastly…..

So we’ve made it to the end of F’s first half term in reception. In some ways, it seems to have flown by but on the other hand, her first day seems ages ago now. I’m off work this half term and I’m really looking forward to spending lots of time as a family. I hope you all have a fantastic week.

  1. Oh love her little bright outfit walking in the woods. We need to get out and explore this weekend the rain has just been keeping us in so much. It’s not even rain that wellies and coat will do it’s been a complete downpour all the time. Love the sound of a bucket list. Have a lovely weekend ahead #littleloves

  2. I love F’s outfit! Your girls always wear the most gorgeous clothes. Happy belated birthday. Sounds like you had a great time and what a bargain with those jeans! I can’t believe it’s half term already, the kids only just seem to have gone back. Enjoy your time with the girls this week x

  3. Aw well done F I love watching kiddies develop and grow its such an exciting time, the dress is so sweet I love the colour. We used to love Maisy books and the cartoons when the boys were little x
