This week has been another busy one. We had a party for the ladybird’s third birthday party on Sunday and I did my last 2 days in work Monday and Tuesday so I am now officially off work until June 2017! Wednesday I met a friend in the park and also got ready for us to come away to Anglesey. Thursday was the ladybird’s birthday so we took her to a lovely cafe in Beaumaris where they make the most delicious gelato. We also had Dutch pancakes to start with which was not something I’d had before. The ladybird chose marshmallow ice cream and I had chocolate flake and banana bread flavours. We make a point of visiting this ice cream shop every time we are in Anglesey (I love Beaumaris in general) but the cafe is a new addition over the winter.
I packed my copy of Us (David Nicholls) for our weekend away. The weather forecast was not good and also my hips are slowing me down somewhat now so I knew I would get some time to read. I did find some time to read a couple of chapters on Thursday. I’ve been reading this book since last summer. It’s not that I do not enjoy the book but it’s not really one of those books where I can’t wait to pick it up if that makes sense.
We watched the 200th episode of The big bang theory. I have to say it wasn’t their best episode but I still enjoyed it. I also watched another episode of Undercover which I really enjoyed. I think I am still a couple of weeks behind but I’m hoping to catch up now that I will have the house to myself Mondays and Tuesdays (well for a few weeks at least).
I also watched the ladybird enjoying her party and birthday too. I loved watching her open all her presents and also blow out her candles. She loved all her new toys and books, it’s lovely to watch her playing with them all.
Lots and lots of “Happy Birthday to you”. The ladybird loves anyone singing this song to her! I’ve also heard lots more of her putting on voices and playing with her toys.
I bought the ladybird a few bits this week. I love these bright coloured leggings from M&S. I bought some t-shirts to go with them but since the weather is so cold, wet and windy she won’t be wearing them for a while. We even had a few snow showers this week and lots of hail. At the end of April!
I made the ladybird’s third birthday cake this week. She requested a Peppa pig cake and sometimes it would be more specific “a chocolate Peppa pig cake”. I love baking but cake decorating is not something I am good at. I do want to make her birthday cakes whilst I still can though (before she requests things too complicated for my basic decorating skills). The cake was for a family party too (so mostly adults) so I felt the taste was most important. I made a custard cake using a recipe from Nigella. It really was delicious and the ladybird was very happy with the Peppa and George figures in their “muddy puddle”.
My father-in-law finished painting the nursery for us this week so now I feel a lot nearer to being ready for this baby in 6 weeks. I’m hoping we can go to Ikea the weekend after the bank holiday to get a wardrobe and other furniture. After the furniture is in place I will finally be able to do the bits I’ve been looking forward to like adding finishing touches, washing and putting away baby clothes and generally getting all the baby stuff organised and not all over the place!
I know this little loves is quiet late as we have just go back from 5 days in Anglesey. I’ll be back this Friday to tell you what we got up to from Friday.
