Little loves

Fairy tales, snow and painting #littleloves

January 20, 2017

It’s been a pretty normal week here. We’ve not done anything particularly exciting. A quiet weekend at home followed by the usual week. This probably won’t be my most interesting little loves post but here it is anyway.

We’ve read a couple of books this week that are twists on classic fairy tales. The Princess and the giant is based on jack and the beanstalk which I realised I’ve never read to F. This version is a lovely rhyming story about a princess who is trying to help the giant sleep. Use your imagination is loosely based on little red riding hood and is a really entertainment book with a surprise ending. I realised that there are so many fairy tales I have not read to F and the ones we have read she loves. I’ll have to look for her a nice collection or see if my parents can find my old ones in their loft.

Last Saturday afternoon we all watched Disney Pixar’s Inside out. It’s such a lovely film and very clever too. If you’re not familiar with it, basically most of the film is set in the brain of an 11 year old girl who is the struggling with her emotions after a big upheaval of moving to a different city. The main characters are her emotions joy, sadness, anger, disgust and fear. The film is really imaginative but at the same time, you can tell neurologists and psychologists had been involved.

Warm hats and scarfs. We woke to our first snow of 2017 last Friday. I wrapped F up and let her play in the garden as I had E to watch. On Saturday my husband watched E whilst I took F outside only most of the snow had gone. However, we did snow painting that I blogged about on Wednesday.img_6961

On Sunday we had my husband’s family over for a roast dinner. Although my husband cooked most of it, I made my families sausage meat stuffing which we usually only have at Christmas. The whole meal was delicious but I forgot to take any pictures.

I set up a simple foil painting activity for F yesterday. She seemed to really enjoy it but only for about 5 minutes.

F telling E she’s her best friend. Unfortunately, she doesn’t always act like it! But it is very sweet when F is affectionate to E or the way E thinks F is the funniest thing ever, even when she’s not doing much.

And lastly ….

We have no plans for the weekend but I feel the need to get out and do something. I’m not sure what yet though but I can’t face another quiet weekend in the house.

Little Loves Coffee Work Sleep Repeat

  1. Inside Out is one of favourite films it’s so good and very well thought out. We haven’t had any snow yet, that snow painting looks like a great idea we must try it (if we ever get any). Have a lovely weekend x #LittleLoves

  2. Oh look at you getting creative and fun with snow. that’s such a great idea. I really wish we had got some the kids wanted it so badly. It just rained here. sadly. Love the picasso attempts here my little one is obsessed with painting at the moment. Popping over from #littleloves happy weekend ahead.

  3. I love all the crafts you do with your girls. That snow painting looks like so much fun too. Sausage meat stuffing is my absolute favourite. I could sit there and eat it from the dish with a spoon! I made way too much recently and had it in sandwiches with chicken for lunch the next few days – heaven in a sandwich (ha ha can you tell I really do like it!?!). Hope you’re having a good weekend x

  4. I love all your creative play ideas. I was so rubbish at all that kind of thing when mine were little. I remember spending ages setting things up only for N not to be interested, that definitely put me off. It’s a shame though as E loves that kind of thing so she missed out really. Thank goodness she did things like that a nursery though!
    Have a lovely week xx
