Nesting, parties and sparkly shoes

Nesting, parties and sparkly shoes

This week I have been off work for the full week and in many ways I have felt like my maternity leave has already started (I have just a day and a half to work next week and then I really am finished). The weekend was really busy with a family event on Saturday and a toddler birthday party on Sunday. Then Monday and Tuesday, the ladybird was in nursery and I used the time to do jobs around the house (as well as a little me time). I think nesting is kicking in now but the baby’s room is not decorated yet, we need to buy wardrobes etc and all our baby stuff (new and from the ladybird) is all over the house and even still at my parents. Consequently I’ve been focusing my efforts else where (kitchen/living room/the ladybirds room). I think my husband things I have lost the plot but I just can’t wait for the nursery to be finished so I can start washing/sorting baby things and getting the house tidy again. The bathrooms still need finishing too, I hope it all gets done in time.

Not much for me as I had to take my library book back as someone had reserved it. I was only 70 pages in but I was enjoying it. I took it back last night and found a couple of books that I like the sound of to try.IMG_5187.jpg

Whilst tidying the ladybird’s room, I switched the books around on her sling bookshelf. I’ve focused on spring reads, babies (ad becoming a big sister) and potty training books. I hope to find time to do a full blog post on these books soon.IMG_5176

I finally found time to catch up with Grey’s anatomy and one born every minute on Monday/Tuesday (whilst doing the ironing or tidying the living room). I’m loving this series of Grey’s anatomy but OBEM had me in tears when a baby had to be resuscitated. I’m not sure whether I should be watching this series so close to giving birth!

I had my 32 week midwife appointment on Monday so I got to hear the baby’s heartbeat again. I will be seen every two weeks from now on either by a midwife or a midwife/consultant appointment. I feel like I am always there! It’s reassuring that they are keeping an eye on me though. Fingers crossed my blood pressure continues to be in the normal range. I’m starting to get a little nervous about giving birth, more the risk of haemorrhage after but I know that no two births are he same.

I’ve been cooking a lot from scratch this week and have even managed to stash a few extra meals in the freezer for when time/energy is short. I’d ideally like to get a small freezer for the garage soon and fill that. The freezer part of our integrated fridge/freezer isn’t big enough for the three of us and I know I will need more space once we start weaning as I used to make purees in advance for the ladybird.

It's fajitas night!

I still have lots of projects (sewing and crochet mainly) that I would like to finish before the baby arrives but I focused on cleaning/decluttering/tidying this week when the ladybird was at nursery (whilst I still have the energy).

We tried a new playgroup last Friday and the ladybird enjoyed making  a butterfy and some Easter nest cakes. We’ve been stuck at home these last three days waiting for parcels and for the plumber to return to finish the last bit of the bathroom. Fingers crossed he arrives today as I’m getting fed up of staying home and also a lttle worried he’s not coming back!

We attended a family Christening/party on Saturday and I bought a black maxi-dress to wear. It’s a maternity/nursing one so I’m hoping I’ll get plenty of wear out of it this summer.

I also bought the ladybird these gorgeous silver shoes to wear with her party dress. She also wore them on Sunday to a 3rd birthday party. The only problem was it was on a farm and the parents had planned for us to go on a short nature trail (but no one had informed me). It might have been short but it was muddy in places, hilly and involved several styles! Not ideal when you are 32 weeks and have mild SPD!

And lastly…

We have another busy weekend, as next week the ladybird turns three so we are having a family party on Sunday. I’m in work for the last time Monday and Tuesday next week and then I’m properly on maternity leave. After struggling to unwind last week, I’ve really felt like I have been on maternity leave this week. I think Monday/Tuesday might be a shock to the system! At least I have the ladybirds birthday to look forward to. My husband has booked Thursday and Friday off work so we also have  5 day weekend to look forward to!

Enjoy your maternity leave, make sure you get as much rest as possible! I love your book shelf, so many lovely books. Have you read ‘There’s A House Inside My Mummy’? It’s a lovely book about having a little brother/sister, and my toddler still reads it now and her brother is almost 9 months old haha xx

Thanks. I have heard of that book but we do not have a copy. Thanks for the recommendation. x

We had that book when I was pregnant with my second child and it really helped my then toddler understand a bit more. xx

What a nice idea to change the books around in your wee one’s room depending on what’s happening around her. I love that. Hope you have a lovely restful maternity leave.

Thank you. She has far too many books for this shelf so we keep most on a standard bookshelf. This one is much easier for toddlers as they can see more of the cover.

Oh those little shoes are so cute! I miss dressing my (now 14 year old) daughter up! Sounds like you’re itching to get into the nursery and get everything sorted, it would drive me mad not to be able to start getting it all ready yet. Hope you enjoy your last 2 days at work and the ladybird enjoys her party tomorrow x

Thank you. Her party was lovely. I really am itching to get the nursery sorted and then the rest of the house will follow as baby stuff is everywhere! I do really love dressing my daughter at the moment. x

Oh gosh, I avoided OBEM when I was pregnant both times, I just couldn’t cope with it!
Loving those cute little shoes, so pretty xx
