If you’re hosting a Halloween party where young children will be attending, then you’ll want to put together a few special activities and games. Get everything right, and you’ll help to create a few ‘core memories’, that the kids will be able to reflect on as they grow up.
Don’t forget to get the space ready for Halloween with complementary Halloween decorations that will create the best spooky atmosphere for these games.
Your party games might include a few classics and a few newer ones. Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to keep things fairly hands-on. This is a chance to get away from those screens!
Apple bobbing
Let’s kick things off with a classic. Apple bobbing is guaranteed to produce laughs aplenty. Just make sure that you’re bobbing in a container that’s deep enough – since pushing against the bottom is surely cheating.
The great thing about this one is that parents can get involved. Just make sure that everyone is prepared to get slightly wet. If you’re wearing ghoulish make-up, then this might be a problem – so perhaps this is a game for later in the festivities.
Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin
This is a twist on the classic donkey-tail formula. You might equally use different props, provided that they’re appropriately spooky. If you’re worried about young children spiking themselves (or one another), then you might use magnets or stickers rather than pins.
If you’d like, you can make this game slightly educational. Pin the femur on the skeleton, anyone?
Mummy competition
Dressing up as a mummy, in theory, takes a matter of seconds. If you’re going to play this game, then you might stand at the ready with a stopwatch to ensure that everyone is given a fair chance to play. Make sure that you have plenty of bandages (or toilet roll) because you’re going to get through a lot of it.
Make sure that there’s a special prize for the best mummy – and for all of the runners-up, too. Just make sure that the judges are impartial. s
Halloween hunt
Any party where children are attending can be made better with the help of a scavenger hunt. You can have enormous fun designing the hunt, ideally so that children can work together and bond while trying to achieve a common goal. You might also include a competitive element – which should be possible without leaving anyone too disappointed.
Your hunt might take contestants through both the house and the garden. Of course, this will work best if the garden is suitably bedecked with outdoor Halloween decorations,making the occasion even more spooky and fun for the kids
Spooky bowling
Bowling is a surefire winner, provided that you have the right space available. You can use a range of objects as pins, including cans, or the toilet rolls that you got through in the mummy contest.
