BKD baking and craft subscription box review

We were recently sent a baking & craft subscription box from BKD to review. Last weekend my eldest, F who is 5 next month, spent a lovely hour or so testing the box. We were sent February’s box which was love themed. Each month the theme is different but the boxes are all priced at £9.99 plus postage. Each box is personalised with your child’s name and is the perfect size to fit through your letterbox so you won’t have to worry about missing the post.

What’s in the box?

In our love box, there was one baking activity and two crafts. There was a full-colour booklet we full instructions for all 3 activities.

We started by baking jammy dodges. The box included a bag of dry ingredients, a sachet of jam and a heart-shaped cookie cutter. There were instructions for baking the biscuits using the kit as well as a full recipe for making the biscuits from scratch next time.

To bake the biscuits we just had to follow the instructions and add an egg and some butter. F loved baking the biscuits and the crafts were useful whilst the dough was in the fridge and whilst the biscuits were baking. The finished biscuits were delicious.

As I mentioned the crafts were perfect for keeping F entertained whilst waiting for the biscuits. The first activity we did was to make flowers from cupcake liners. these were incredibly simple to make but also very cute and effective.

The second craft was a love bug game. We made a dice and cut all the pieces for a ladybird out. then F threw the dice and started to put together the ladybird based on the number thrown. this was a perfect activity for her age and she loved finding the number on the corresponding chart.

Once the biscuits were ready to eat, I had the idea of helping F to set up a pretend cafe. I wrote a menu out and asked her to trace the letters. This worked out really well as she is a reluctant writer but loved this activity.

I love the idea of combining the crafts and the baking, this sounds like a brilliant box. Before I realised it was for crafting too, I thought the price + postage was a bit steep, but having read your post, I’ve changed my mind completely. #sharingthebloglove

What a brilliant idea, I think my nearly 4 year old would love this! I really like the incorporation of the crafts too, and the attainability of the baking 🙂 Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
