Gifts to encourage noticing nature
Kids love nature from an early age. Give them a pair of binoculars or a bug collection pot and you can turn a walk into a nature spotting adventure. These little binoculars are great for young kids. They’re lightweight so they can carry them themselves.
The binoculars are perfect for bird spotting and the bug pot is perfect for bug hunting. Bug hunting has always been a favourite activity for my kids.

Stocking fillers that promote creativity outdoors
Creativity and getting outdoors are two fantastic things to encourage in children and even better if you can combine the two!
This beautiful notebook is one of a range of designs and is the perfect size for keeping in that adventure pack we talked about creating above. Then on a day out, if you are happy to stop for a while, you can encourage your children to write or draw things that they have seen.
They could draw the view or a bug that they found, a favourite flower that they spotted or just make a few notes about the walk. You could encourage them to start a nature journal using it.
You’ll need a few other supplies in your bag for these creative breaks. I love these little pots of colouring pencils and tiny watercolour paint pallets that are perfect for travel. A Hb pencil is an essential item too. Perfect for the notebook but also for all those scavenger hunts you often find on a family walk. The remaining 5 items that I chose are a bit of fun and a snack pouch because let’s face it you can never have enough snacks on a walk with kids! This cat pouch is super cute but again there are loads of different options available if this style isn’t for you.
The ice lolly iron on patch is perfect for adding to your childs rucksack to give it a unique look. Again there are loads of designs and I had a hard time choosing which one to show here.
Then we have 3 items that are just for fun and games. A childhood classic has to be a yoyo (range of designs available) and this super cute one is made of wood.
A bag of marbles is perfect for teaching older children some classic outdoor games. Marbles are also perfect for keeping in your bag for a swap if you go geocaching.
