Big little lies, children’s books and days out #littleloves

How is it May already? I return to work in June and it is starting to feel scarily close now. Anyway, back to this week. Friday, was F’s fourth birthday and we took a trip to Cheshire ice cream farm. They have an amazing indoor sand and water play area that F loved. E became ill over the weekend so lots of cuddles were needed and not much sleep! She was mostly just unhappy, clingy and off her food. She also had a temperature some evenings but not during the day. I almost put it down to teething but then she started with a rash on Tuesday too. Thankfully the rash had faded a lot by Wednesday morning. She is pretty much back to her normal self now thankfully.

Read

Nothing for myself, as usual, I wish I could find the time but I guess I don’t prioritise reading enough right now. I have read lots with the girls though. F got a few books for her birthday which we have been enjoying. I also got a surprise parcel of books from The Book Trust as part of their bath, book, bed campaign. I’ll be writing more about these on Tuesday.

We also took a trip to the library this week and got a few new books. F has loved trips to the library for some time but since they replaced the shelves with a train (boxes of books make up the carriages), well it’s hard to get her out.

Watched

With E being unwell and mostly wanting cuddles, I made the most of F being at preschool on Tuesday and watched lots of Big little lies. How good was the final episode? I read the book several years ago and thankfully never remembered the ending. On Sunday we visited Quarry Bank Mill. It was the opening weekend of their summer of ‘The worst children’s jobs in history’. As part of the opening weekend, they had a special interactive show. F was one of the youngest there but she enjoyed watching the other children getting up and trying out these jobs. By the end, she was requesting to join in. She didn’t get a chance but I loved watching her go from not wanting to sit with the other children, to wanting to join in, in 20 minutes. The actors were great too. Another example of how great the National Trust is for families. We also watch F scooting around on her new scooter and playing in the interactive exhibitions.

Made

I made a banana bread one evening which we have all enjoyed. Other than that not much. This week has mostly been spent out having fun or looking after a poorly baby.

Wore

On Wednesday, I shared my review of Piccalilly clothing who I am working with as a brand ambassador. I love these photos I took last weekend of my girls.

Heard

F said her birthday was the best day ever which was lovely to hear. One of the books she got for her birthday was Jack and the beanstalk. She loves it and we often hear her shouting “Fee-fi-fo-thumb” or “I stole all your money”. We often find the books she loves most are the classic fairy tales. She’s also role playing shops and doctors a lot at the moment. Usually, she’ll have a notebook and crayon in her hand pretending to take notes.

And lastly …….

I’ve been loving seeing all the colourful photos using the hashtag I started on Instagram #mycolourfulkids. Don’t forget to use it on any photos related to your children that are colourful. I’ll be sharing my favourites from this week on my Instagram account tomorrow morning.

It was great. You should make banana bread, it’s so simple to make. Perhaps I should blog my recipe?

Please do join. I’m sure you can. You don’t have to dress your children colourfully. Sometimes it’s the other items or location that is colourful.

Love the idea of adding Easter egg. I add chocolate for a treat sometimes too. This time I added coco powder.

Right, I will share my banana bread recipe. It might be in a few weeks though. No I’ve not seen the affair. Will try that some time soon.
