Christmas cake, weaning and an elf #littleloves

Christmas cake, weaning and an elf #littleloves

How is it December next week? This week has flown by. We spent the weekend seeing family. The tiny one has been ill this week with a cough and a cold, thankfully not a particularly bad one but it’s been enough to make her want to be cuddled pretty much all the time.

I had a few hours to myself at the hair dressers last Friday whilst my parents looked after the girls. It was lovely to read a few of their magazines. They always have a good selection of interiors ones.

I also read that my blog post on our day out at a local play trail was chosen as a favorite in two of the link ups I joined last week. After neglecting my blog for so long it’s really nice to not only be back blogging but also getting positive feedback.

The tiny ladybird is not good at napping at the best of time (30 minutes max if we put her down) but on Tuesday I could tell she needed more so I gave in and let her nap on me. She slept for 2 hours (just think what I could have got done in that time if she was in her cot and my eldest was at nursery). I used the time to watch last week’s Grey’s anatomy, various YouTube vlogs and a few episodes of Jamie’s super foods. I got the book for my birthday and have only made one recipe so far. I’ve book marked a few recipes that looked yummy. Hopefully I’ll make some over the next few weeks.

My mum bought my eldest some new wellies this week. I love the colours and pattern. I seriously would buy them in my size. They came in handy whilst we were staying at their house as the weather was not great. Perfect for puddle jumping when you are 3 though.20161118_113503.jpg

Lots of veggie purees. we started weaning the tiny one last Sunday. She is very keen to get the spoon in her mouth but most of the puree is pushed back out again. So far we have tried her with carrots, broccoli, potato, parsnips and butternut squash. Her response to all of them has been the same so at least she hasn’t pulled a face at any.20161120_121059.jpg

I’ve also started getting organised for advent. we have a reusable calendar which I will be filling with chocolate and other little treats. we are also doing a book advent too so I wrapped the first book this week and put all the books in one place.20161124_113232.jpg

Finally I found time to bake our Christmas cake yesterday while my mum was here. I hope it will still be delicious as this is the latest I’ve ever baked one.

“Mummy, there’s an elf in your wardrobe” oops someone left the door a jar with our elf on show! I think we got away with it though. I shut the door and we shouted “go back to the north pole, you’re too early”. I then hid him better whilst she was at preschool. This is the first year we’ve done elf on the shelf so I guess we’ve covered how he gets here. through mummy and daddy’s wardrobe.

And lastly . ….

We’ve not made any plans for this weekend. I had wanted to take the girls to Tatton park tonight to see father Christmas arriving but between the tiny one being ill and my husband no doubt having to work late due to black friday we are missing it again. It’s a lovely evening if you are local and free.

I think we’ve had a very similar week as I’ve been planning elf on the shelf, our book advent and made our Christmas cake too! It’s so excited to get all these things prepared and I am really feeling festive already! xx

I think the only cake I don’t like is fruit cake – I always used to eat the icing and marzipan off my mums when I was younger though! I love the book for advent idea, only thing is it costs a small fortune to get books sent here so I’ve gone for just buying a few festive books instead. Can’t wait to start reading them with the little one now! Great cover with the elf! Hope your tiny ladybird is feeling better x
