Easiest floors to clean and maintain

Collaborative post

As much as aesthetics and stylish flooring is important, we can’t say no to a flooring that’s doesn’t cause us any extra stress. It’s frustrating when you have a floor that requires a lot of upkeep, nobody wants to spend hours day cleaning their flooring! So, if you’re looking for a flooring in your kitchen or indeed any room that sees a lot of usage, you’ve come to the right place. We are going to look at which types of floors are the easiest to keep clean and why.   Luxury Vinyl Tiles   LVT is certainly one of your best options when it comes to a low-maintenance flooring. It is water, scratch and stain proof, ideal for rooms that see high exposure to these such as the kitchen and bathroom – especially if you have little ones charging about the place! Cleaning is very easy too, only soap and water is needed for mopping and it doesn’t require a specialist cleaning product like other flooring types. You’re not even having to sacrifice style – LVT is so good at replicating natural products such as wood that often it’s hard to tell them apart.    Laminate    Not only is laminate one of the cheapest flooring options available but it doesn’t require much attention to keep it looking fresh. Mopping and sweeping is all that needs to be done and much like LVT, it is resistant to scratches, stains and water. The only downside is if any damage does occur, more often than not they can’t be refinished but only replaced.    Wood   Wood isn’t just (we think) the most beautiful flooring but has a host of practical benefits that only increases its popularity. You have to be slightly more careful with how you clean it however – only a soft vacuum end and a dry mop will do the job. Don’t lay it in areas that see high exposure to water either, as it can cause it to warp and swell over time. Wood is highly durable, however if damage does occur then it can be sanded down and refinished to eradicate any damage. If you’re prepared for a little more work, then there’s no reason you won’t be able to enjoy your wood floors for many years!    Stone   Although stone isn’t one of the cosiest options, it is relatively easy to keep clean. It’s waterproof and virtually impossible to crack or scratch as well as being highly durable. Cleaning is also a breeze, with only a mop and a sweep necessary. However, stone can get very slippery when wet, so we’d advise sticking to a dry mop!    Carpet   Carpet it very popular and it’s easy to see why. It’s soft and warm under foot, one of the cosiest options, common in bedrooms and living rooms. However, it isn’t the most care free option. Firstly, it is harbours dirt and debris that other options don’t, not great if someone in your household has allergies! Often you have to get down on your hands and knees with the vacuum to remove stubborn pieces of dust. It is also very easily stained and often you have to get a professional cleaner in to remove them. A lot of the time, stains can ruin the carpet which means you need to replace it, no fun!
