My family adventures January 2018

Quarry Bank Mill

January has been a mixed month in our house at least. We’ve had a lot of illness. Little E had a cough/cold bug in the middle of the month followed by a sickness bug towards the end. This post is a little later than I planned as I’ve been ill too. I spent most of last weekend and the beginning of this week in bed ill with a fever, a headache and a sore throat. Thankfully I’m a lot better now and I’m hoping we can have a few weeks bug free in our house.

The weather this month has been pretty rubbish too but we did manage a couple of nice days out. We had one day out at the beginning of the month to one of our local National Trust properties Quarry Bank Mill, one of my favourite local National Trust properties.  It was cold but we had a few fun-filled hours exploring the grounds and playing in the playground.

In the middle of the month, we spent a wet Saturday exploring Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. There were lots of great interactive activities for the girls to enjoy. The robotic rabbits were their favourites by miles. If the robot rabbits are happy they glow green (from lots of stroking) and if they are unhappy they grow red. My eldest loved stroking them but our toddler was fascinated by their ears which they hated.

The other weekends have been quieter but we have been enjoying spending time with our extended family, doing creative activities with the girls and fighting off illnesses. Let’s hope February is a better month all round. Below are some of my favourite photos from the month. How was your January?

It’s hard to keep ourselves motivated through bad weather and illness. Well done for powering through it. Good luck for Feb!

Our January has been similar – lots of bugs, lots of indoor crafting, and a few trips out. I really hope February is a bug free one for you. I loved your review of Quarry Bank Mill, it looks beautiful, and the Science Museum makes me wish we lived closer to Manchester! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

Despite the illness and dreary weather of January it sounds like you’ve made the most of the month and had lots of fun as a family. Wishing you a wonderful month in February #MyFamilyAdventures

It looks like you’ve managed to make the most of any good days January gave you and that’s really all you can do! It’s always horrid at this time of year with everyone getting sick one at a time so there’s always someone poorly. It looks like the girls made the most of the freedom being outdoors offered them whilst they weren’t too poorly too!

What a lovely round up, I’m so sorry you’ve been ill and glad to hear you’re back on the mend. We’ve always got Quarry Bank on the list but I worried there was nothing to do. Would you recommend? Thanks for joining in with #myfamilyadventures again x

I’ve tweeted you a link to my blog post on Quarry Bank. We love it, there are lots of things to do. Woods to explore, Styal village, The apprentice house, Mill owners house, The mill (currently shut for restoration), playground and the gardens and the beautiful glass house.

Sounds like a mixed bag of a month. I’ve enjoyed the calmness and quieter weekends that January brought us after a busy Christmas. The weather was just so miserable though and I’m now ready for Spring. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

Lovely photos! Looks like you managed to fit in quite a few adventures despite all of the illness going on. These first couple of months of the year are terrible for colds and sickness bugs aren’t they?! Hope everyone feels much better this month #CountryKids
