I still remember how big a decision it was finding childcare for my eldest before I went back to work. It’s so important to find somewhere you feel totally happy leaving your child. You need to find someone you trust to take good care of your child whilst you are working.
How do you go about finding a nursery or childminder? Personal recommendations are a good start but a nursery that is perfect for one family might not be the best for another. Perhaps you want a nursery or childminder who believes in getting kids outdoors or one near to work. This is where modern technology can step in to help.
Childcare.co.uk is a website that is designed to help parents find childcare and make it easy to do so. Over 2 million parents have trusted childcare.co.uk to help them find childcare since it was founded in 2009. I’ve been exploring the website and it’s not hard to see why it’s so well used and respected by parents.

Their website is really easy to navigate. Simply choose the type of childcare you require, put in your postcode and choose the distance you are happy to extend the search area to. Then click search and you’ll soon be given a list of suitable places or people. You can even filter the results such as if you are looking for full time, part-time or after school childcare.
Once you have your list, you can click on the individual profiles to find out more about childcare providers. There is so much information that childcare providers can add to their profile which makes it so useful for a parent. You can easily find key information that can help you narrow down your choice. Information such as if they are OFSTED registered, if they have a full driving license, if they are a non-smoker, if they are DBS checked and if they have first aid training.
Childcare providers can choose to include all their qualifications, relevant experience, availability and links to any websites or social media profiles where you can find out more. Another great feature is that parents can choose to leave reviews of the provider. I love reading reviews before making any kind of purchase. Reviews of childcare providers are so powerful in helping parents choose the best childcare for their family.
There are also a number of useful articles on the site such as ones on how to choose the right childcare, how to interview potential nannies and what is a childminder. They’re packed full of useful advice for parents that they can use to help with narrowing down their childcare choices.

It’s very simple to register for a free account which you can then use to send messages to potential childminders etc. Childcare.co.uk take safety very seriously which is so important. They have a very detailed page on safety which is very reassuring to parents showing how they protect everyone’s details safe, how they check profiles and even tips for parents who are meeting potential nannies or childminders.
I wish I’d known about childcare.co.uk when I was looking for childcare. It really makes searching for potential providers a breeze. It’s also great to know that they take safety so seriously as much as we parents do. I know where I’ll be heading if I ever need to change childcare providers.
Disclosure – I was asked to review childcare.co.uk and compensated for my time.
