Sleepovers are a great way to help your children bond with their friends and can be hugely fun occasions.
If you’re looking to host a memorable party for your little ones, then check out our top tips for throwing an awesome sleepover!
- Invest in a Guest Bed
Guest beds can be a lifesaver for sleepovers, whatever design you plump for.
However, having a guest bed that can store away well is a must for houses with smaller bedrooms.
Companies like Archers Sleep Centre are experts in finding the best beds for all your needs and have a selection of beds that fold out into two single beds, perfect for your child’s sleepover.
- Snacks are Essential
No excellent sleepover is complete without a range of snacks to be devoured, so stocking up is an essential part of sleepover preparation.
If your child’s sleepover contains a movie marathon, you might want to consider stocking up on popcorn, or better still, invest in a popcorn machine!
You can find many popcorn machines online, or from high street shops like B&Q, and they produce warm popcorn for everyone to enjoy with minimal effort.
Alternatively you can also make it the old fashioned way in a lidded pan with some oil and kernels. Why not try adding different syrups, salt or sugar to boost the flavour?
- Organise Fun Activities
Aside from movie marathons, organising fun activities like arts and crafts, charades or board games can help to pass the time before bed.
If it’s a warm summer’s evening, you could even arrange a mini sports day in your garden if you have one, or else take a trip to the local park with a football or scooters and bikes.
Not only will this create a fun experience for the children, but it will help to tire them out.
- Check for Allergies
Although this might seem obvious, checking for allergies is an essential part of sleepover preparation.
You’ll need to be prepared if you invite children who have serious allergies, and have a plan in case something goes wrong. Check the policy with the parents, and communicate a plan in the event of a reaction.
While some children can have mild intolerances, or allergic reactions that aren’t life-threatening, some allergies such as nuts can produce anaphylaxis (the swelling and closure of airways), which can quickly kill, and learning basic first aid may go a long way.
- Get the Kids Involved in the Cooking
Although you might want to throw together a buffet-style dinner, getting the kids involved with some part of the cooking can help you get it done faster and will provide an enjoyable activity for them all.
Whether you request some assistance with decorating pizzas, baking cakes, or mixing ingredients, this is sure to help any child feel at home and will encourage some essential team spirit.
