We love camping with kids. We have been taking our kids tent camping since they were toddlers. Most recently we have been camping in our campervan. We love to take a drive-away awning with us on trips for a bit of extra space and somewhere to store things like the kids’ car seats. Today I’m going to tell you all about our latest awning in this OLPRO Loopo Breeze review. There’s also a discount code for OLPRO too!

Ad – We are OLPRO ambassadors and as such we were sent the OLPRO Loopo Breeze campervan awning to review. Our previous awning that we bought ourselves was an OLPRO cubo and we loved it too.
OLPRO Loopo Breeze drive-away awning review
We’ve used this drive-away awning on a couple of weekend trips and on our two-week trip to the Netherlands. During our 2 weeks away, we stayed on 3 campsites so we have had a fair amount of practice at putting the awning up and down as well as using it day to day.
Our previous awning was also an OLPRO (which we purchased ourselves) awning and we genuinely love this brand. We have a Mazda Bongo campervan which is a little bit smaller than a VW campervan. We’ve also not fully converted our Mazda Bongo so we do need to travel with an awning on longer trips as we have no kitchen and limited storage in the van.

Our initial impression when we first pitched the OLPRO Loopo Breeze was that we loved it. We could see little improvements from our previous OLPRO Cubo awning that you would expect from paying a bit more money for an awning. Things like zips on the curtains and the zip doors to the outside on the part of the awning that attaches to the campervan.
We also noticed how much quicker an inflatable awning is to put up and take down. It really makes a difference on short trips and on longer trips where we are moving campsites frequently. Anything to make setting up camp and moving on quicker is a win in my books.

We also love the colour. You can get it in two other colourways but we love the bright orange and blue, especially with our silver van.
Inside the awning, we have been enjoying a bit of extra space compared to our previous Cubo. This is great as we do need to store two bulky kids’ car seats in the awning and things like bedding during the day too. The extra space means we can store these things and still have living space to use. This is especially useful on wet days so we can eat and relax in the awning.

We love that there are fly nets on all doors, there is a rain porch on the back door and the side door (directly opposite the van) can be put up on king poles. A feature we love.
The only downside compared to our previous Cubo awning is the pack size is significantly bigger and this is true across the board for inflatable tents. However, we have made a few changes to our camping kit like switching to very * compact camping chairs and we now manage. For us, the pros of this tent outweigh the increased pack size and weight.

Putting up the awning
The instructions say it should take 10 minutes to put up and we agree this does seem about right. It may take a little longer to go around pegging down all the guy ropes.
There are 3 poles for the roof which take 2-3 pumps to fill and then 2 inner beams that take a little more pumping. Once the two main beams are firm and fully pumped up, you need to go inside and attach the 3 poles across the awning and then your awning is up. All you need to do then is peg in the corners, all the guy lines and attach the van to your campervan.
It really is that fast!

Taking down the awning
Taking the awning down is even quicker. Simply remove the 3 roof beams and deflate them. Unpeg and tie up all the guy ropes and then release the valves on the two main poles and they deflate really fast!
Then it’s a case of rolling it all up and putting it back in the bag. The best bit is that the bag is designed really cleverly and we have never had to fight to get the awning back in it’s bag. There are also two straps on the bag that you can tighten to make the bag as small as possible.

How does it fair in bad weather?
We have been able to test the awning out in the rain and also the wind (not really strong but up to about 20mph so far). We’re pleased to say we had no leaks and the awning managed fine in the wind too. We’ve also not noticed any problems with condensation on the windows in the morning, perhaps because of the ventilation in the front.

Which campervans will the OLPRO Loopo Breeze fit?
It will fit all campervans between a height of 190cm and 250cm

Extras for you OLPRO Loopo Breeze awning
There are a number of extras that you can get for your OLPRO Loopo Breeze:
Rock pegs – Yes, this awning is supplied with pegs but we find that all tent pegs supplied with tents and awnings are very flimsy and not suitable for most campsites. You can pick up a box of rock pegs for very little and you really will be pleased you spent that little bit extra. You can get these ones from OLPRO * rock pegs or these are the ones that we have had for a few years now * available from Amazon.
OLPRO Loopo carpet – if you want a little luxury and you have room to pack a carpet, then you’ll be please to know there is one available that fits both the poled awning and the inflatable one. Available to buy here direct * OLPRO Loopo carpet or from * Amazon here.
OLPRO Loopo footprint groundsheet – This is an optional extra but one we are thinking of adding. You pitch this under your awning which prevents the underside of the sewn-in groundsheet from getting muddy. Why does this matter? because when you come to roll the awning up the underside will be coming into contact with the main awning as you roll. Available to buy direct from OLPRO * Loopo footprint groundsheet or from * Amazon.
Electric air pump – We find the hand pump supplied with the awning fine but if you want to make it a little easier you can get an electric pump. Available here direct from OLPRO – * Electric pump.
OLPRO Loopo inner sleeping tent – If you need a bit of sleeping space inside your awning or perhaps you just don’t want to look at the kids car seats! Then you can purchase a 2 berth inner tent. Available here direct from OLPRO * Loopo inner sleeping tent
Don’t forget if you do purchase direct from OLPRO, I have a discount code for you below.
