As soon as I saw Seekers magnetic scavenger hunt I knew my kids would love it. We spend lots of time outdoors and I love scavenger hunts. They’re great outdoor activities for children. I’ve never seen a scavenger hunt like this one though and I can’t believe no one has thought of it before.

The team at Seekers share my passion for getting kids outside and enjoying the natural world around them. Scavenger hunts not only keep children entertained on walks but they also get them to engage with nature. They notice the spiders webs or the animal tracks. It also creates talking points and learning opportunities about nature.
The unique features of seekers magnetic scavenger hunt make scavenger hunts accessible to all children. Toddlers might not have the ability to hold a pen and tick boxes on a sheet but they can use seekers.
The items to hunt for are identified by both a picture and simple text. This means my youngest can tell what to look for by the pictures and my 6-year-old can read the clues so we know we’re not necessarily looking for a ladybird but any bug.
Once each item has been found the child simply turns the magnet over. The reverse of the magnets has a tick symbol.
The board and 12 magnets are waterproof which is fantastic because we don’t just go outdoors on dry days. They come in two drawstring bags. A small one for the magnets and a larger one for the board and magnets bag. This larger one has a carry handle and shoulder straps so your children can wear it on their back.
We love that the magnets are strong enough to stay on the board even if it is dropped by little hands but not so strong that they can’t be turned over by young children. My just turned 3-year-old has no problems and can do it on her own. In fact, the only problem we had is that she gets carried away and tries to turn them all over straight away. Much to my older daughters annoyance. She soon got the hang of it though and they now happily hunt for items together. She loves hunting for things to find on a walk.
My eldest loves it. She has a longer concentration span and is keen to find all 12 items each time we have used this. She enjoys hunting for y shaped twigs and 5 different leaves. We often hunt for bugs anyway and I can see us popping our magnifying glass in the backpack too.
As well as the starter pack that we are reviewing here, there are a number of add on magnet packs. I have my eye on the camping and beach ones for next summers adventures. If you’re wondering what do I need for camping with a toddler? definitely pack a SEEKERS to occupy them on walks. They’re one of the best camping toys for kids.
The car journeys one also looks like it would be a saviour on long journeys. There’s also a supermarket, Christmas, at the park and a shapes and colours pack too.
The reverse of the board includes instructions for how to play and a reminder of the countryside code which is a useful reminder to children.
SEEKERS comes packaged in a cardboard box with no single-use plastic and it looks like the magnet sets do. The team at SEEKERS really have thought of everything.

|This sounds like a really fun way to get kids outside. My son would love to do something like this. I like the fact that it’s magnetic as he’s less likely to lose the pieces.

I love this idea. We do what we call “adventure walks” with our son near our home and he loves them. Something like this would add a new element of fun for us!
