The go-to routine for busy mums this summer

Collaborative post

When you are a mum who is constantly on the go, you start to not become your number one priority. But to be the best version of yourself, you need to prioritise yourself sometimes. Then you can give more of yourself to your little ones who deserve all the attention in the world.

It is okay to put some time to the side and focus on yourself, even if it is for ten minutes a day. Take the time to focus on your skincare, pamper yourself and have fun with it.

When it comes to summer, this is when your skin will need some TLC.  Your skin can break out and even become dry from the heat. This can leave you feeling not great about yourself.

But you do not need a ten-step skincare routine to achieve hydrated, nourished and glowing skin. Sometimes less really is more.

The Sun Can Be Your Friend And Faux

The sun can have dehydrating effects and can leave you with flaky and dull skin. You want to make sure you are keeping your skin hydrated within your skincare routine but also as you go about your day-to-day life. Hydration is key to plump and radiant skin!

Make sure to carry around a bottle of water, whether that is in your handbag, nappy bag or the bottom of the pushchair. You wouldn’t leave the house without a drink for your little one, so don’t forget about yourself. This helps to keep you hydrated from the inside out on hot summer days, where the sun is relentlessly making you sweat.

Also, make sure to pack sunscreen to protect against the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays, you don’t want to prematurely age from having fun outside. So make sure to reapply every couple of hours to make sure your skin is getting the protection it needs!

Keeping a moisturiser or something hydrating nearby will also remind you to keep your skin topped up throughout the day. Maybe even try a hydrating face mist, for a quick spritz when your skin is feeling dry, but your hands are dirty from playing outside with the children.

Start With The Basics

Having a few-step routine that works for you is more efficient and effective than a multiple-step one that you never have the time to do.

1.    Prioritise A Hydrating cleanser

Using a hydrating cleanser sets your skin up with a protective barrier against the dry weather. It helps to nourish and soothe your skin and gently wash away any excess oil or dirt. This will help to keep your skin fresh and clear.

2.    Exfoliate The Flakes Away

For the radiance to shine through you will want to buff away any dead skin cells. This helps to increase your cell turnover to reveal bright and glowing skin.

3.    Moisturise! Moisturise! Moisturise!

A simple step, but always moisturise. This helps to lock in moisture and prevent your skin from becoming dehydrated.

Struggle with eczema? This is the best eczema cream.

4.    Don’t Leave Without SPF

Leave the house with the full protection your skin needs. Use a broad-spectrum SPF for the coverage you need and this helps to prevent the damage from the sun which can lead to premature ageing, hyperpigmentation and dark spots.

5.    Extra Steps

It is then completely up to you if you want to add in any skin acids or serums to help with any skin issues and concerns. If you are worried about ageing skin then adding in a retinol acid can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. But these are optional steps as and when you want to try something new.
