There are small coves and long stretches of sandy beaches, dog-friendly beaches and beaches that are fantastic for watersports. No matter which area of Cornwall you decide to base yourself in, you’ll find plenty of beaches to enjoy.

Watersports fans
If you have older children that are keen on watersports then Cornwall is perfect due to the Atlantic coastline. There are many surf schools to choose from where they can learn to surf. Or perhaps stand up paddle boarding or kayaks is more to their taste. No matter what you are spoilt for choice in Cornwall.
Art lovers
Cornwall is very popular with artists and as such, you’ll find small art galleries all over the place. There is also Tate St Ives which is a must for any art lover. Right in the centre of St Ives overlooking the sea, with plenty of works of art on display and lots of windows that frame the views like works of art too. The building itself is equally inspiring.
Tate St Ives also manage the Barbara Hepworth Museum and gardens where you’ll find many works on display by one of Britain’s most loved sculptors in her former home and garden.
Family-friendly holiday accomodation
You are spoilt for choice with where to stay in Cornwall with your family. Not only are there lots of different coastal resorts to choose from but you can also choose to stay more inland if you prefer. You’ll find hotels, campsites and self-catering properties to fit all budgets and tastes.
Self-catering holidays are fantastic for families so that you can keep to your own schedules and don’t have to worry about disturbing other guests if your child wakes crying at night. A much more relaxing holiday in my opinion. A change of scenery but with all the comforts and convenience of home.
A Cornwall cottages holiday gives you the freedom to come and go as you like, eat at the cottage when you like (no waiting for breakfast to start at 7:30 am when your child needs breakfast at 6 am) and eat out when you want to.
You’ll find lots of Cornwall coastal cottages to choose from. Think about where you want to stay, how big a cottage you want and any essentials that your dream holiday cottage includes. History fans
Cornwall has plenty of castles and other historical sites to explore if you choose to. Highlights include Tintagel castle with it’s new and very impressive walkway over to the medieval island and castle, whilst the National Trust’s St Michael’s mount is a stunning castle on a tidal island which can only be reached at low tide.
Nature lovers
As well as the stunning coast, there is so much for nature lovers to enjoy in Cornwall. You’re sure to spot plenty of wildlife. Perhaps you’ll choose to go on a boat trip and try to spot seals, dolphins and more just off the shores. Or you might like to spend a day at the Eden project and enjoy the tropical rainforests they have created or perhaps Newquay zoo is somewhere your family will enjoy.
Plenty of things to do with kids
As well as all the great options above, there are some fantastic days out that kids will love across Cornwall. If you want to treat the kids to a day at a theme park, you have two to choose from in Cornwall. Flambards in the very south of Cornwall has loads of rides, a Victorian village and a replica of a London street during World War 2.
