It’s been a few weeks since I joined in with little loves as I have been busy with a newborn. The tiny ladybird is now 2 weeks old already and as you read this my husband has gone back to work and today is my first day on my own with the two ladybirds. I’m grateful it’s a Friday so I get one day on my own before the weekend and then on monday we start our new normal weekly routine.
As you can imagine with a newborn I’ve not read all that much. I’m still reading plenty of children’s books with the ladybird though. I also signed up for a subscription to the simple things magazine. I’ll be able to find time to read one magazine a month, right?
The tiny ladybird is just like her big sister for cluster feeding in an evening so we are working our way through lots of series we got behind on during pregnancy. This week we’ve finished modern family and the big bang theory.
The ladybird has been really sweet with the tiny ladybird this week. She calls her “little cutie pie”. We had the health visitor round yesterday and she was very good with the ladybird. She made a fuss of her and let her put her doll on the scales. She obviously made a big impression on the ladybird as she spent the afternoon pretending to be a health visitor. She is very in to pretend play at the moment and we often hear her making up little stories with her toys. She also reads books by either remembering the story or making up a story based on the picture.
Last weekend I was fed up of pulling my pregnancy jeans up (as they were quite loose) so I dug out my biggest pair of none maternity jeans. They are a size 14 and were too big for me before pregnancy but fit perfectly right now. I’m obviously not dieting or exercising right now so I might have to get another pair to fit me until I get back in my size 12s.
The tiny ladybird has been wearing lots of beautiful, tiny baby grows. We had to buy her a few smaller ones as she gets lost in the up to 10lb ones we had for my eldest. These are some of my favourites.
About the only thing I have made this week is some more frozen yogurt lollies for the ladybird. We did enjoy homemade lemon drizzle cake on father’s day, thanks to the baking and freezing I did during the last few weeks of pregnancy.
We’ve had a lovely first two weeks with the tiny ladybird. We spent the first week doing very little but this last week we’ve got out and about a bit. We’ve had a couple of lunches out, explored our local art/family festival and registered the tiny ladybird’s birth. Part of me is looking forward to get back to normal (or our new normal anyway) today and the other part is really wondering how I’ll manage without my husband around. I guess my main worry is keeping the ladybird happy whilst the tiny ladybird feeds, particularly in the afternoon once we are both tired. I know we’ll quickly adapt to our new routine but wish me luck for my first day (and first full week next week). Hopefully I’ll be back to tell you how we got on next friday.
