Big little lies, spring and instagram #littleloves

Thank you for your comments last week. E’s burn seems to be healing well. The dressing, has been changed twice since then and both nurses were pleased with the healing. We have been signed off and only have to go back if I have any concerns. We had a really busy first half of the week but the last few days have been quieter. We’ve had our spring coats on some days as we’ve had a couple of sunny spring days (much appreciated).

Nothing for me as usual. This library book has really stood out as a favourite read with F this week. Seasons come, seasons go tree. It’s a really lovely, simple rhyming book about the changing seasons. The cut outs and details on each page give us lots of opportunities to talk or play can you spot/count etc which F enjoys.

I watched the first episode of Sky Atlantic’s new show Big little lies last night. I read the book a few years back but I can’t remember much about it. However, I love all the books by Liane Morriarty. I loved the first episode. Great cast and location too. So far, I don’t remember the plot so I’m able to enjoy the story fully.

Last weekend I made fairy cakes with F. We had picked up some cute Easter cake decorations and I had plans for a blog post but they did not look great. The buns rose too much in the centre and the icing all ran to the sides. I plan to tweak the recipe and try again. F was not in the slightest bit bothered. She loved them. Just goes to show kids don’t need Pinterest worthy cakes!

Last weekend we received our selection of clothes from Piccalilly since we are spring/summer ambassadors. My girls have been spoilt with some gorgeous clothes which I can not wait for them to wear this spring/summer. Here are a few photos.Piccalilly clothes

F also wore her new spring jacket a couple of times this week.

This week F has said things that made us giggle and things that make me realise just how much she is learning at the moment.

F: My doll is called Pipsy.

Me: That’s an unusual name. Where did it come from? (perhaps not the best phrasing I could have used for an almost 4 year old)

F: Her mouth!

F: That’s my heart. It’s beating lots. (I’m guessing they’ve been learning about that at preschool).

She’s also still talking about or trip to Eureka last week. We might be going back soon.

And lastly ….

I created an Instagram hashtag this week. It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing but I love it and I have had some others participate already. The hashtag is #mycolourfulkids and it is for all your colourful children related photos. You can find more details in my introducing #mycoloufulkids post. I’d love it if some of you joined me. I will be sharing a post of my favourites every Saturday so please come back tomorrow to see this weeks. You can find me at ladybirdsadventures on Instagram if you would like to follow me.

You won’t be disappointed. My eldest seems to prefer eating cake to actually baking! Although she helped with decorating on this occasion.

Glad to hear E’s burn is healing well. Those clothes are gorgeous and what a lovely instagram hashtag too. My little one is always in rather dark, dull colours, just seeing all those lovely brights make me want to go shopping! That book looks really lovely too, my little one loves anything like that. Hope you all have a lovely weekend x

I find my kids love any book with extra details like lift the flaps or cut outs. You could still join the hashtag even if your little one doesn’t wear colourful clothes. Toys, books, days out and activities are often colourful.

I might also have to check out Big Little Lies! The clothes are really gorgeous, I might have to go and check out their newborn and baby boy clothes. Glad E is healing well and hope you have a lovely weekend x

Those Piccallly clothes are lovely, Boden-esque! I’ve just a look at their website but sadly just a little small for us now, where did that time go? The book looks lovely, I may have to buy a copy for work, I love discovering new children’s books. Have a happy week.

Lots of luck with your new instagram hashtag. Wish I could join in but with a 14 and 11 year old, brightly coloured clothes are definitely a thing of the past x
