Easter STEM activity
Materials

Tools
- Dropper or pipette
- Tray or bin to catch spills
- Small clear bottles or jars
Instructions
- Fill the bottom of the jars or bottles with baking soda. Place your bunny or other Easter srprise on top of the baking powder.

- Add more baking powder on top of the bunny so it is completly hidden.
- Next add some glitter on top of the baking powder (optional)

- Add some food colouring to each jar. I added pink to one and purple to another.

- This is the point to get your child involved. Use a dropper to slowly add vinegar to the bottles. Watch as the mixture bubbles, foams, and rises.

- Continue adding vinegar a little at a time. Let the fizz settle, then add more.

- As the baking soda dissolves, the hidden Easter surprise will slowly emerge through the bubbles.

The science behind the fizz!
When baking soda and vinegar are combined they create a fizzy reaction. The bubbles created are due to the carbon dioxide gas escaping. This causes the potion to fizz up and it feels really magical for young kids.
Preschool don’t need to understand the science behind the reaction to enjoy it but older children might ask questions and like to know what is going on.
