There are so many great National Trust North Wales family days out so I’ve rounded them up in this one post so you can find out more about them all. They all make fantastic family days out in North Wales. North Wales has a variety of NT properties that are great for Family walks. There are castles to explore, gardens to wander through and properties too. Some even have fantastic play areas, cafes and picnics are always welcome too.

National Trust properties North Wales
I’ve written before about how the National Trust for kids is fantastic and they make fantastic and affordable family days out. If you live in or will be visiting North Wales soon, here are the best National Trust days out for you to enjoy.
Plas Newydd, Anglesey
One of my favourite family days out on Anglesey is Plas Newydd (click through for my full review). It’s the only National Trust property in Anglesey. It’s a lovely place to enjoy a walk with the kids (it’s a perfect pram-friendly walk on Anglesey). Kids of all ages are sure to love the playground in the woods, the wooden boat for playing on by the cafe is perfect for little ones and the magical treehouse too. You’ll love the stunning gardens and views over the Menai Straits. There are often family events and trails for you to enjoy. Find out more and * book here.
Erddig, Wrexham
There are so many different walks that you can enjoy to explore the stunning parkland. Perhaps you’ll choose a riverside walk or perhaps you’d prefer a meadow or a woodland? There really is that much choice. You also need to explore the formal walled gardens and Wolf’s den, the natural play area that my kids love. You’ll also find a plant centre, restaurant and more. National Trust castles North Wales
Penrhyn castle, Bangor
This is one of just 2 National Trust castles North Wales (see below for Chirk castle). I’ve written about Penrhyn castle before. We love visiting as there is so much to do for all the family and they often have family activities on in the school holidays. You can explore the castle, wander around the gardens or even look around the railway museum. There’s also an exhibition called “What a world” to look around. Chirk Castle, Wrexham
Chirk is the other NT castle in North Wales. This one is located not that far from Erddig which I talked about above. The gardens are beautiful, especially in the summer. There’s so much space for the kids to run around and explore. The castle itself is really impressive but my kids prefer the play areas outside! There are beautiful views from the top of the hill, even more so when the weather is nice. Find out more * here.
National Trust gardens North Wales
Whilst all of the above properties have beautiful gardens to explore, there is one National Trust garden in North Wales that is well worth a visit, despite there being no property or castle to explore. There’s not even a children’s play area but it still makes a fantastic family day out.
Bodnant garden, near Colwyn Bay, Conwy
We’ve visited Bodnant garden a number of times of the years. We love visiting Conwy and no visit is complete without a trip to Bodnant garden. It’s a short drive away in stunning woodlands. Although you can see a property in these photos, it’s actually a private residence. The gardens are very extensive though and you can spend a full day just walking around and exploring. There are formal gardens at the top near the entrance but then you can walk down into the valley below where you’ll find gorgeous woodlands with a river running through the middle. There is a little cafe down there and also a little room filled with natural resources and a few bits of toys and art materials for kids to enjoy. Find out more and * book your tickets here.
