Summer, forest school and water play #littleloves

I’m struggling to write this post as this week has not been the most exciting. It started off well last Friday when we discovered a local forest playgroup. Then Saturday morning we took F to see the school she will be starting in September. The rest of the weekend was just spent at home as it was too hot to take the girls anywhere and my husband wasn’t feeling well. I now work Monday to Wednesday and these days just pass in a blur of taking care of the girls, work and sleep (or rather lack of sleep). This week I had to take Monday afternoon off to take F to a stay and play session at school which was nice but it did mean a lot of rushing around in very hot weather. Predictably by the time, my day off arrived yesterday the weather had turned. To be honest, though I’m glad it’s a little bit cooler but I’d prefer it if it didn’t rain.

This week I’ve read lots of children’s books. We’ve been sent a few to review and yesterday we made a trip to the library. We’ve also been enjoying reading seasonal books like this one. F loves books as much as I do and I love it when she picks a book up and “reads” it aloud. Obviously, she can’t read yet but she does have a very good memory for stories.

I can’t think of anything I’ve watched this week on tv. I did enjoy The Michalaks’ vlog of their Greek holiday. Another fantastic video from them. I’m even behind on watching my favourite vlogs¬†though. One day my youngest will sleep better and then I won’t know what to do with my evenings!

I can’t think of anything I have made this week really. I did make my usual homemade pizza’s for fathers day and I did help the girls make a footprint father’s day card for my husband but that’s about it.

F helped to make a birds nest at forest school last Friday. This would have been her third forest school session at three different ones. We loved this one (and it’s only a 10 minute drive away) so I’m hoping to take her back to as many as I can before the summer holidays. She loved collecting the bits for the bird’s nest and bug hunting. Both girls enjoyed swinging in the hammocks and eating brioche toasted on the camp fire. E is at that awkward stage where she can’t walk and get involved but she is not happy sitting in her pushchair but she did fairly well, even if I did have to carry her for the majority of the 2 hours and occasionally let her sit on the forest floor!

This week I wore a fat face dress that I’ve had for a while to work. I’m terrible for living in jeans at home and black trousers for work. I’ll never make it as a fashion blogger! Plus I forgot to take a photo too.

My girls have been wearing their summer clothes and E has been wearing some bits for nursery that belonged to F. The also wore not very much and had fun in a baby bath with water in it in the garden. They both adore water and water play. When I collected E from nursery on Monday tea time she as sat in a tuff spot which had water in it. She was wearing a normal disposable nappy (not a swim one) and I have no idea how long she had been in the water but I’m surprised there was any left in the tray. I’ve never seen a nappy as full! She felt like she weighed twice as much when I picked her up! I wish I could have taken a photo.

I heard from F and my mum all about her second stay and play session on Tuesday. She is supposed to go to 6 settling in sessions over the next 4 weeks but they are all on days I work and since I have only been back at work 3 weeks I can’t attend them all. I’ve managed to get time off to take her to 3 and my mum is able to take her to 2 so I don’t think we are doing too badly. She is quiet shy so I’m a little nervous about her starting school especially as she will be one of the youngest and also one of the few who hasn’t gone to the attached preschool. On the other hand, she has done really well at adjusting and making friends both at nursery and in her swimming lessons. She seems really excited to go to school though and she liked her teacher which is a good start.

And lastly….

We’ve not made any plans for the weekend but hopefully, we’ll do something more exciting than last weekend!

I wish this one had been around when F was younger. I’m going to miss it when she starts school.I guess I’ll just have to hope it is still running on one of my days off when E is a bit older. x

The Forest School looks brilliant. We live about 20 minutes away from a fantastic forest, and they do lots of wonderful activities there too. Shame my kids are older now. Glad the settling in sessions are going ok. My ‘baby’ has had her first session at high school this week. Enjoy your weekend #littleloves x

Ah forest school is the best- my two have forest school sessions as part of the curriculum at their primary and they absolutely love it. I think being out in nature is so good for the soul! #LittleLoves

I wish they did at my daughters new school but they do have a very good outdoor space. Couldn’t agree more!
