If there is one space in your home or on your land that you should be able to sit back and relax, it’s your garden. This is your little piece of paradise that’s private just for you, but nobody could infiltrate if you don’t want them to. A garden is supposed to make you feel comfortable and comforted, and it’s a beautiful retreat from the indoor living spaces.
It’s an extension of your living space, and most people like to make it so with an extended deck or a wrap around porch. You might even consider adding garden rooms so that you can enjoy you garden even when it is a little cooler or even wet.
Having the garden of the home look as beautiful as the interior is not always the easiest thing to do, but there are so many ways that you can jazz up your garden to make it look fantastic. Whether you are planting allium bulbs to add some bold colour to your garden, or you are tearing up all of the original displays and plants that you had to redesign the whole thing, you can make your garden look great and make it somewhere that makes you most comfortable. Adding new elements into your garden can be a big job, but if you bring your kids and the rest of your family into it, you won’t regret it. Even something as simple as adding climbing plants to add more privacy to your garden, or planting a tree so you can grow your own fruit is going to enhance the space.
So with this in mind, we put together a huge list of things that you could do to jazz up your garden and make it look fantastic.
- Add colour where you can. You don’t necessarily have to do this by sprucing up your garden beds with new colorful flowers, but it’s a great way to add some colour where you can. You can also add varieties of fruits and vegetables and include painting the fence, adding colorful bird feeders or even a bird bath to the space so that you can enhance the way that it looks. Think about how your garden stands out and whether colorful stones that create a walking path will make the space look great. If you’re not willing to completely redo the garden a splash of colour by planting flowers and fruits and vegetables in rainbow colors around the garden will enhance it massively.
- Add colorful water features. Water features are very clever ways to dress up your gardens because not only does it encourage wildlife into the space, such as birds and other rodents, you’ll be able to enjoy the babbling of a water fountain or the sprinkle of a water feature in your garden. Bubbling water can be super relaxing and it’s why we like to sit by the ocean and listen to the rush of the waves.It’s super simple to find colorful urns to create a great display. All you have to do is make sure that you add some river rocks around the edges to encourage drainage and keep it safe from children.
- Use recyclables to jazz up your garden. Whether you are using tin cans or buckets, you can paint recyclables like paint pots and have them dotted around the garden. With new plant life growing out of it. Not only is it a cheap way to add new colour, but once the soup cans or coffee cans are cleaned out, you can paint the cans to suit your style. So if rainbows are your thing, you could have rainbow colors of miniature plant pots all around your garden that are growing all of your herbs. Not only will this help you to save money on your groceries and enhance your cooking, you’ll be able to see the beauty of your garden unfold.
- Add more throw pillows. Whether you have outdoor furniture or not is neither here nor there, because throw pillows can be rested just on your grass. Of course, you need to make sure that you are picking throw pillows that are specific to the living outside so that they can be stored away and waterproof. Throw pillows are great when you want to entertain, but sometimes you just want to put a few pillows out, lay back and read in the sunshine and throw pillows are the perfect addition to that.
- Get the kids crafting. From painting rocks and stones to crafting rock caterpillars for the garden, you can make sure to add colour and jazz up the garden with your children’s handiwork. When you get the children involved in painting rocks for the garden, it’s something that you get to keep forever. Make sure that you are using waterproof paint and you varnish the rocks that they paint before you put them outside. This way they will last forever in your garden and even when the kids are grown and have moved out, you’ll be able to see all of their artwork in front of you forever. Get the kids to craft stepping stones as well. Decorative stepping stones through the garden can really make your space pop. You could get them to paint them for the front yard or for the backyard. It’s completely up to you, but these stepping stones are going to enhance the space and make your garden look far more visually appealing. When you get the kids involved in it, it makes it all the better.
- Hang a hammock. Whether you have two sturdy trees or you have two sturdy pillars, you can hang a hanger in your garden and make a point of enjoying the space better. Really. Where you enhance the look of your garden overall, but you’ll have somewhere to lazily rock in the sunshine when you just want to relax. A bright hammock can be added to the patio but make sure you have a cover over the top in case of rain you should also choose a hammock in the material that’s not going to end up rotting through in the weather so make sure it’s waterproof.
- Buy new furniture. When was the last time you treated your household to new furniture in the garden? If you have the money, choose a funky pattern for your furnishings outside or replace the furniture sets that you have in its entirety. Sun parasols, for example, are a great way to create shade and a wonderful atmosphere in a garden that pulls a lot of sun. Having some parasols in the garden helped you to create some shady picnic spots around so that you and the kids don’t have to venture very far to go and enjoy a picnic outside.
- Get up. Your garden, no matter the size of it, needs to be well lit so you can see what you’re doing. A good way to add some colour to your garden is to add small solar lights or fairy lights in the bushes. There are excellent picks to save money on energy costs, help you to stay green, and allow you to have a bit more freedom in the size and the shape of the lights that you choose. You can also opt for a creative option and illuminate your outdoor entertainment space with LED neon signage. Not all lights have to be stuck to the walls and powered by the house power, especially not when you can enjoy solar power instead.
- Add some birdhouses. Bird houses, either in the trees or hung from the top of your patio or even just dotted around your fence, allows you to encourage birds into your garden. A bright display of birdhouses can be a great way to add some colour to your garden, and it’s a good craft to do with the kids as well. They’ll be thrilled to know about the birds that come through your garden and it gives you something to do with them to teach them about the local wildlife. You could set up a spot by the window near the garden door so that you can observe the birds eating. Some people like to put a backless birdhouse against a window in their home so they can watch the birds eat up close.
- Redress your trellis. If you have a trellis or a gazebo in your garden, you can ensure that you hang bright fabrics from it to encourage the children to be outside more. With bold throw pillows you’ve created a decorative space that you can sit and enjoy and the colors are just fantastic. Don’t forget, gardens don’t have to be boring. You want to jazz up the space so that you want to spend more time in it no matter what time of the year you are there. You can even add paper lanterns to create an outdoor retreat that’s so colorful and comfortable that you won’t want to leave.
- Repaint the fence. When was the last time you had a fencing touch up in your garden? If you want to ensure that your garden is jazzed up, well then repainting the space is really going to help.You don’t have to repeat the whole thing. You could keep it in neutral colour if you don’t want to go too bright or too bold, especially if you have a Neighborhood Association that doesn’t quite like that. But you can even just paint the fence white so that you can bring in the sunshine.
