Llandudno beaches

You can’t beat a trip to the seaside when it comes to North Wales, and Llandudno has 2 great beaches to choose from. You can enjoy all of the usual fun activities on the beach and it is also a budget-friendly way to spend some time as a family.

Beach with pier in the distance

Llandudno’s north shore is right at the heart of this seaside resort. In the summer holidays, they often have donkey rides and traditional Punch and Judy shows! Of the two beaches, this is the busiest beach as it is right by the pier.

West Shore is probably my favourite beach of the two. It is on the other side of Llandudno, further from the shops and pier. It is a fairly short walk if you do want to walk between the two. About 20 minutes.

West Shore is a large sandy beach with loads of space for families, plenty of roadside parking and a children’s play area just before the beach.

Llandudno promenade

While visiting a seaside town you have to explore the promenade and the Llandudno promenade is a lovely place to spend some time with the family. With food places and amusements, you can spend a good amount of time here.

The promenade is along the front of the main resort at North Shore. It’s a lovely place to walk and we love spotting the Alice in Wonderland sculpture.

If you walk far enough down here you’ll soon come to the next item on my list.

Craig-y-Don paddling pool

This is a large free paddling pool which can get busy in the summer months. There is also a great play area right next to it. A great place to spend time with kids splashing around in the water.

There are also some food and drink stalls as well as gift shops too. There are arcades and in the main season, there is a big wheel too which older kids may enjoy.

There are many fantastic treasure trails you can do all over the UK and the Llandudno “Looking for Alice” detective trail is a lot of fun for kids. It gives you the chance to get outdoors, discover new places and enjoy the local area. It’s 2.5 miles long so not too far to walk.
