Treasure basket, bedtime stories and first aid #littleloves

Thank you again for all your condolences last week. We spent last weekend helping to clear out my grandad’s council flat which was very sad. Since we got home, both girls have coughs and I’m full of cold. Sleepless nights have been followed by slow days.ย  As ever though there have been some #littleloves.

Last weekend, on the way to and from my parent’s house, I read a lot of Hurrah for gin. I think my husband got sick of hearing me chuckle to myself or reading him bits out. It’s a very relatable book and such an easy read. It really helped take my mind off things.

On Monday, I shared my 3 favourite bedtime stories for babies and toddlers. F has always been a fantastic sleeper. E is almost 9 months and is still waking twice a night minimum. We are trying to improve her bedtime routine by bringing it forward and separating it from F’s (it’s a bit chaotic trying to get them to bed together). I’ve also added in a quick massage and lullabies playing. At the moment I’m reading her A recipe for bedtime. Fingers crossed the new routine helps but I’m not getting my hopes up.Bedtime story

Channel mum have started a really useful first aid series of vlogs. This week was choking which I think every parent worries about. Such a useful video. I’d recommend everyone watch it.

Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday but since it was in the madness of post nursery/pre bedtime, I forgot to take photos. They were tasty, though.

I made a treasure basket for E on Tuesday afternoon. I’ve made a few different ones now and she always enjoys exploring them for a while. This week everything went in her mouth since she’s currently teething. Her 5th tooth is coming through. ย She’s gained 1 tooth a week for the past 5 weeks now.

F can be a little bit bossy and I think these quotes show that. Despite the bossiness, they did make me chuckle.

F “Keep cuddling me, I’ve not finished crying yet” (she had stopped).

F never really talks on the phone but this week she had a lovely conversation with my mother in law. She made everyone laughter though as it was initially my father in law on the phone but she told him she didn’t want to talk to him, she wanted to talk to grandma. Thankfully he saw the funny side.

Nothing new this week but I still love E’s dungarees and F’s dinosaurs top. I love this photo of them. It might not show their faces but it does show their bond. I’d sat E here and in a flash F was sat right beside her.

And lastly….

Despite it being spring now we actually had snow on Tuesday. It was quite heavy for a while first thing but it soon turned to rain and it was all washed away by lunch time.

Lovely picture of your little ones. I did a children’s first aid course when Parker was a baby, it was so insightful. I’d like to do another as a refresh actually. Enjoy your weekend xx

A refresher is always useful. It’s so easy to forget when we don’t use a skill.

I love that picture of your girls, the dinosaur top is gorgeous. I’ve got Hurrah For Gin on my bookshelf but haven’t got round to reading it yet. Must make a start.
Really sorry to hear about your Grandad, hope you’re okay. xx

I Love Katie’s Hurrah for Gin book- I got it as a Christmas present and it’s so, so funny! Re the first aid videos, I really must sit and watch some, or even book myself in on a course. I know basic adult first aid, but I’m embarrassed to say that I probably don’t know enough about children’s first aid. #LittleLoves
