Have you thought about winter outdoor clothing for kids yet? Whatever outdoor adventures you are planning this winter, getting your kids kitted out properly should be your number one priority. I find the key to a successful trip in winter is making sure everyone is warm enough. I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying “no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing”. I think this is so true. My kids love the snow but hate being cold.
We were sent this gorgeous kids jacket and a fleece top for me in exchange for this honest review. All thoughts, photos and opinions are my own.
Simply hike are an online shop selling big brand outdoor and camping equipment. Amongst other things, they have an excellent range of kids ski wear including kids ski helmets and clothing. Whilst we have no plans to go skiing this winter, my eldest daughter did need a new coat. They have a big range of coats for her age. You know how much I love bright coloured clothing so I was spoilt for choice.
In the end, I chose this ski jacket from Color kids. This is the Donja ski jacket in sparkling cosmo. I love the mix of pink and blue stripes and thankfully so does my daughter. It’s lovely and warm too so it’s perfect for the cold winter ahead. Something that is very important with young children who love outdoor play is keeping it clean. It’s very practical as it wipes clean easily as well as being washable. I’m sure we’ll be using these features to get rid of lots of mud!
The attention to detail on this coat is high. All the seams are fully sealed and the fabric is water repellant. The coat is windproof, waterproof yet breathable. There are a couple of reflective elements too. The hood is detachable too and there are 3 zipped pockets (one of which is on the sleeve). There is also a velcro sealed inside pocket which is designed for ski passes etc. The bottom hem is fully adjustable with drawstrings too.
Since it’s designed as a ski jacket it’s lovely and warm without being bulky and difficult to move in. It’s also got a built-in snow skirt to prevent snow from getting inside. Not something that we will need a lot but it doesn’t do any harm having it and if our winter is anything like last year we’ll no doubt have some snow to enjoy. The sleeves are also designed to stop snow getting up them which will be great for snowman building.
My daughter has been wearing this coat now for a good few weeks. We both love this coat. It’s bright and colourful as well as practical and warm. There are so many great features in this very well designed coat. I’ve no doubt this jacket will get lots of wear over the coming winter months. We love spending time outdoors and this coat is very practical for all our winter adventures.
Now that you are all kitted out for winter, it’s time to start planning your outdoor adventures. Have you read my winter bucket list for inspiration? Or how about finding some ideas for fun things to do with kids on a walk.
