Planning your 2019 holiday

Planning your 2019 holiday

Have you started planning your holiday for 2019 yet? As you know we love UK holidays as a family and there are so many places we would love to visit. With Brexit next year it is predicted that more people will be choosing to stay in the UK for their main holiday. I have to say we haven’t taken our young children abroad yet and I don’t feel we are missing out. There are so many gorgeous places to stay and explore here in the UK. For young families, we love self-catering holidays for a week long holiday and in the summer months, we love camping trips for shorter weekend breaks. If you’re looking for self-catering cottages for your 2019 holiday, have you tried Original cottages? They have a large selection of properties suitable for different group sizes across England and Wales. Below I’ve rounded up some of my favourite places in the UK for family holidays.

Yorkshire

From gorgeous seaside towns like Whitby to stunning towns like York, there are so many great places for family holidays in Yorkshire. If you do visit York then the Railway Museum is a great day out for children. There are lots of trains on display (some which you can go inside too) as well as great play areas for kids (train inspired). Another great family day out in Yorkshire is Fountains Abbey. The abbey is stunning and the play area is huge and fantastic for kids.

Pembrokeshire

I remember a family holiday to Tenby when I was a child. We’re planning a family holiday there this summer. It looks like a stunning area and I can’t wait to explore the stunning coastline and towns like Tenby.

Lake District

We love visiting the Lake District and often holiday in Cumbria in the autumn. We rent a house with my parents and have a fantastic week exploring the Lakes. The Lake Districts are perfect for families who love spending time outdoors. There are lots of family-friendly walks, including many that are buggy friendly too. I wrote a blog post that includes all my family-friendly days out in Cumbria.

Cornwall

I’ve never been to Cornwall but it’s high on my list of places that I would like to visit.  I’ve always wanted to visit St Ives, Bude and the Eden project. Cornwall really does sound like the perfect place to visit with kids. Find out more here.

Anglesey, North Wales

Anglesey is a great place to visit with children. We visit frequently and have explored a lot of the island as well as nearby places in North Wales. The beaches are beautiful and clean so perfect for families. There’s also great fun to be had by visiting Plas newydd or Greenwood forest park. Find out more about visiting Anglesey with kids here.

Bournemouth, Dorset

Bournemouth is a lovely seaside town for families all year round (read more about Bournemouth at Christmas here). The beaches are perfect for families and the famous beach huts are worth seeing (I love beach hut photos).

Have you started planning your family holiday for next summer? Will you be staying in the UK? and if so where are you planning to visit.

We love the Lake District! I want to go abroad but with having a newborn (ish) we will probably end up staying in the U.K. I quite fancy Yorkshire or Devon!

Me neither. I can’t wait to go this summer. Love all the pretty coloured houses in the photos of Tenby I’ve seen.

Although we do like to head overseas, you’re right, there are so many incredible places to visit in the UK, too. Fountains Abbey is a favourite of ours!

Don’t get me wrong, there are many places overseas I want to visit but we’ll never stop exploring the UK too.

We went to Tenby this year, in late spring, and had a wonderful few days – one of our favourite family holidays. Such a quintessential holiday town, with lots to do within such close proximity to the town itself. You’ll love it!!

I totally agree with so much beauty to be found here in the UK with regards to holidays. Cornwall is likely to be our next UK holiday – although not next year. Boo! Haha!
