Little loves 2016, 2/52

Happy new year and welcome to my first little loves of the year. We had a lovely family Christmas but now its back to normal. I’ll be 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I am feeling a lot better in the day. Evening are a different story though. I’m still going to bed really early most nights (9pm is considered a good night and is very rare!) and I have been sick a good few evenings too. I’m pleased though that things feel to be moving in the right direction, it’s means I am feeling more motivated and organised and getting more done on my days off. Now if I could just stop feeling sick in the evening and stay up longer than the ladybird things would really get back on track.

I really want to read more this year but have yet to pick up a book for myself yet. I’ve been reading my current fiction book since last summer! I need to either make more of an effort with it or give in and find one I will enjoy more.

I am still reading a lot with the ladybird and have started sharing the books we love on instagram (#ladybirdreads). This week we have been enjoying 10 little dinosaurs and peep inside night time.Untitled-1

Since I’m basically going to bed at 8pm (or earlier) I’m mainly watching vlogs on my phone and a bit of kids tv during the day! I really want to watch the new Sherlock that we recorded but staying up 90 minutes after the ladybird has gone to bed feels impossible. I’m loving the new series of grey’s anatomy that I usually manage to watch with my breakfast on one of my days off (the ladybird sleeps until at least 8am most days).

Nothing exciting. I have bought a few bits of maternity wear and my parents have found a bag of some I saved from last time. Some tops are just far too big currently but my normal tops are getting too small. Here’s a picture of my 17 week bump.

Last week I had my 16 week midwife appointment ad heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time. Such a lovely sound and so reassuring. I’ve felt the baby move for the first time this week too which is lovely and a lot earlier than last time. My placenta was at the front last time and I didn’t feel the ladybird move until much later.

I’ve been cooking more these last few days and tried a few new recipes. It feels good to have the energy and motivation to try new recipes. Both dishes were delicious and will be made again.

First up is a risotto with mascapone, smoked salmon and peas.Untitled-3

Last night I made butternut squash and mascapone pasta. This is a recipe I found on instagram from 5oclockapron. I got her book for my birthday just before I found out I was pregnant. I haven’t made much from it yet but I plan to change that very soon.Untitled-2

And lastly….

I’ve restarted my bullet journal (which funnily enough also stopped just after I became pregnant). I use it instead of a diary to keep track of appointments, birthdays etc, as well as a place to write all my lists (I love lists for keeping organised). I’ve also decided to restart a gratitude diary which is something I did a few years back. It’s a lovely way to end the day recording 2 or 3  things I am grateful for and is really lovely to look back on.

Aww so many pregnant bloggers is making me soooooo broody! Sounds like a fab few weeks baby wise, well except the horrible sickness and the tiredness – that’s one thing I’ll never miss! I quite fancy creating a gratitude journal, might make me cheer up a bit and find the good things that happen instead of getting annoyed with the bad. Have a lovely weekend x

Hearing the heartbeat for the first time is one of the very best moments isn’t it? So lovely.
I’ve been watching the new season of Greys too, even though I swore to myself that I couldn’t watch it after what happened to Derek! I’m enjoying it though, which I didn’t think I would.
Love the idea of a gratitude journal, I might have to give that one a go xx

Aww when you hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks, it’s just magical. That risotto looks amazing. So good, I really need to get on the cooking a lot better this year. Towards the end of last year with my anxiety and not being able to even go to the supermarket, my husband usually forgetting something off the shopping list God love him, we ordered takeaway far too often. This looks like a recipe I’d like to give a go and that cook book looks like a must have. Not long now until you can find out the sex, do you think you will? xxx
