In Wales, you’ll find a range of attractions and points of interest. In the South, you’ll find the larger cities, as well as several impressive beaches. Pembrokeshire is particularly popular among tourists.
In the North, however, the coastline is more rugged, and there are abundant highlands ready to be explored. Spread across, Conwy, Denbighshire, and the other counties, you’ll find a variety of hikes – including several seriously challenging ones. There are also adventure playgrounds and other outdoor experiences that will surely appeal to younger members of the family.

Your choice of accommodation should be dictated by your budget, and by the needs of your family. If you’d like to keep costs down, and maximise the time you spend outdoors, then it’s difficult to beat a caravan. Static caravans in North Wales offer a degree of comfort that won’t break the bank, and they’re often within a stone’s throw of the attractions you really want to visit – as well as local amenities. If you’re intent on returning to this part of the country, then you might even buy a caravan outright.

Once you’re decided on a location, you’ll be able to play your itinerary. This should include whatever educational and recreational activities you’ve had your eye on. You might pay a visit to the Snowdonia national park, or to one of the many fantastic museums that line the coast. Those with an interest in sailing might find plenty to explore, too. Whatever your plans, it’s a good idea to keep things flexible. Make sure that you have at least one activity that you can keep in reserve for a rainy day.

It might be that your travel plans are disrupted by unanticipated local events, or by sudden changes in the weather. Thus, it’s a good idea to assess these things before you head out. Do your research, and pick out the form of transport that best suits your needs. For most tourists, this means bundling the family into the car and making a road trip of your holiday. This means making sure that the vehicle is up to the job. Make sure that your tyres are adequately inflated, and that the tread depth is well above the legal minimum. Remember also that many Welsh roads impose a speed limit of just 20mph
