The weeks seem to be flying by right now. F is still loving school. She had her second party last weekend. This one was at a soft play centre. I’m not a big fan of soft play so we don’t go often and we had never been to this one. F loved it and I’ve noticed this week she is talking about the birthday girl a lot.
We’ve had some nice autumnal days this week and we have been getting outside making the most of it. I’m hoping it continues into this weekend as we have a few plans.
Here are my little loves from this week.
You all know how much we love children’s books so yesterday I started a new blog series – Ladybirds’ love books. I will be sharing all the books we enjoy most each month.
Last week I mentioned writing a post for Book Trust. If you haven’t read it already you can find it here. It’s all about finding time to read to children. We’ve still been reading lots in the car before school as well as at bedtime.
I finished series 1 of Doctor Foster and kept up with cold feet this week. I loved both of them.
Recently I’ve fallen into the habit of cooking the same meals each week. Most nights we need quick meals and I seem to be making the same ones. My eldest is getting fussier too so I’ve been sticking to the same meals. I decided to mix it up a bit at the weekend and made paella one night and pork and apple meatballs the other day. They were both delicious and made a nice change. F ate neither and I forgot to photograph both!
I finished work early on Tuesday to go to a parent’s meeting at F’s school. It was all about the reception year and in particular phonics. Once we got home I had a little bit of time with just F before my husband brought E home from nursery. I did some leaf printing and painting with F. I love autumn for kids activities. In fact, I wrote a blog post on Monday all about autumn family activities – Our family autumn bucket list.
We’ve had a couple of walks in the woods where F has worn her wellies. I love these wellies. I also love walking in the woods. On Sunday we all went and F had great fun collecting acorns and pine cones. She also had lots of fun exploring dens and natural play areas. I’m in the process of trying to find tiny little wellies for E as she gets frustrated with being sat in the pushchair all the time.
I spent an hour in school with F on Wednesday morning. The idea was for us parents to see them learning phonics through play. I loved seeing F’s classroom and the paintings she has done as well as doing activities with her. Finally, before we left we heard the class singing their jolly phonics songs.
And lastly ….
It’s my husband’s birthday this weekend and we also have plans to take the kids to see Mr Bloom live. I hope you all have a lovely weekend too.
