The weather has been lovely most of this week. It was sunny and mild until Tuesday evening when the rain arrived. Sunday was the nicest day and perfect timing for mother’s day too. Did you have a nice mother’s day? (I’m guessing most of you are mums). We had been staying at my mum and dads for a few days so we spent Sunday morning with them before going to my in-laws where we enjoyed lunch and an afternoon in the garden. Anyway time to get on with this week’s little loves, there’s rather a lot this week.
I’ve been making an effort to share one of our bedtime stories on Instagram each night. These photos always seem popular so I thought I’d continue when I can. This week we’ve read a variety of children’s books but one of our favourites was Millie-Mae spring. We have all 4 seasons and it’s always lovely to switch when the seasons change. They are really lovely books. Sturdy board books, simple stories about Millie-Mae’s day in each season and some pages have textures/shiny/glittery elements.
I’ve watched lots of youtube this week but not much tv. I also watched F have a fantastic time at Eureka. We visited for the second time this month, she absolutely loves it there. This photo is of her in a pretend car wash which seems to be one of her favourite things to do there. She also enjoys the post office, bank and supermarket, oh and the machine that burps! Thank goodness you get a 12-month pass as standard. I think she’ll be requesting we visit every time we stay at my mum and dads now. I will be writing a full review of the museum very soon.
The shaving foam marbling card that I shared in last week’s little loves were turned into mother’s day cards for the grandmas. Both of them loved theirs.
I made a rainbow treasure basket for E on Tuesday afternoon. E has very little interest in sitting still or playing with toys. She just wants to commando style crawl everywhere to get the things that she’s not supposed to have (wires, paper and tiny items mostly). When I stop her she goes in to full on meltdown. Treasure baskets hold her attention for a short while whilst she empties the basket of everything. Some items will be chewed on. Others simply tossed to one side. Soon she will have lost interest or something not suitable for her will have caught her attention and she’ll be off!
My girls wore outfits in matching prints for mother’s day. I love this gorgeous sausage dog print from Piccalilly. The weather was gorgeous and really mild on Sunday and F loved playing in my in-laws garden without a coat. It was really difficult to get a picture with them both together outside since E can’t stand unaided. Here is one of just F in her dress and the new shoes I mentioned last week. E had on the sausage dog print dungarees that I shared in a little loves post a couple of weeks back.
F was very sweet on Mother’s day. She told me many times that she loved me and wished me a happy Mother’s day lots. She also wanted to bring me a cup of tea (despite the fact I don’t drink tea), I’m guessing nursery must have told them that’s what you do on mother’s day. My husband bought me a card, some Hotel Chocolat chocolates and some beautiful flowers from the girls.
I listened to a Scummy mummies podcast for the first time this week (I know, where have I been?). I’ve heard of them but never got around to looking them up. Needless to say, I’m kicking myself, I’ve never laughed as much whilst doing the washing up!
And lastly ….
I’m still enjoying seeing all the colourful photos shared on Instagram using my hashtag #mycolourful kids. I’ll be sharing my favourites from this week tomorrow morning here and on Instagram so please come back and take a look. Don’t forget to use #mycolourful kids on all your colourful children’s photos.
Disclosure- I am a Piccalilly ambassador. I was sent the dress shown free of charge along with a number of other clothing items. All photos and opinions are my own.
