September activities for kids

September marks back to school and a change of season. I love autumn for kid’s activities. The colours of the autumn woodland make it one of my favourite places to visit. My kids love collecting autumn treasures like conkers and acorns too. We use them in our play and crafting at home throughout autumn. I’m sure we’ll have many more woodland adventures this month and don’t forget to join my 5 day woodland kid’s activity challenge at the end of this post if you want some inspiration for your family.

Below are some of my posts that are most relevant for this month. Keep popping back for more seasonal activities to do with your kids this month too. Better yet scroll to the bottom and join me for my weekly bonus email full of seasonal content straight to your inbox or how about joining my facebook group Nurture Nature Kid’s – let’s play outside. We’re building a lovely group of parents who enjoy spending time outdoors with kids and love to share inspiration with each other.

September outdoor inspiration

September can be another busy month in the garden. You might still have some crops to continue to harvest or you might even have pumpkins that are still ripening. Other jobs will include clearing away weeds and plants that have finished producing this year and plant a green manure in any empty beds. If you also grow flowers then you can start planting flowering bulbs for the spring. It might even be time to start planning what you will grow next year. What worked well for you this year? what would you like to try growing next year?

Here is a really useful resource, a gardening calendar with what to plant and harvest each month and it even has different colours for southern or northern (UK) gardeners – available here.

I have a few blog posts that you might find useful and a few more planned for this month.

September can still be a lovely month with mild weather and plenty of opportunities for playing in the garden or going on days out.
